Topics
Understanding Basic Design Principles: Covers the basics on how to effectively use color, line, form, texture, variety, unity, balance, rhythm, repetition, scale, and proportion in garden design.
Beyond Arborvitae: The Tapestry Hedge:
Reviews how and why planning and planting multiple genii of shrubs in a border may be a good alternative to the single species hedge.
Dramatic Landscape Lighting: Studies why avoiding the airport landing strip style of lighting can lead to a more interesting ‘nightscaped’ garden. Shows examples of well-lit gardens and different lighting styles.
Skinny Garden Spaces: What do you do with that skinny side yard? Looks at multiple ideas of how to put an awkward space to good use or make it more interesting to traverse.
Are you an Innie or an Outie?: Cross the threshold of your front door to see how you can bring the outside in and the inside outdoors. Learn how to develop your own environmental theme and apply it to your home and garden. Learn why it is beneficial to apply design in a consistent manner and how to do it.
The Greening of a Gardener: Gardeners are notably green already, but how do we garden more sustainably? How can we use our gardens to green both our landscape and our home? Go through a ‘typical’ day and learn more about these issues and what to do to help our planet and our grandchildren.
